About Safeguarding
The Partnership is committed to creating and maintaining a safe environment for young people, vulnerable adults and ensuring that action is taken to support them if any concerns are raised.
Safeguarding at the TEC Partnership is about making sure everyone is safe from harm and we all have a part to play:
- The TEC Partnership – by providing an environment that promotes safeguarding
- Staff – by helping to make campuses a safe place to learn and to respond to concerns
- Learners – by acting responsibly and reporting any concerns
We all have a right to feel safe from harm - this may be:
- Physical – being hurt or causing hurt to others
- Neglect – not being looked after/cared for properly
- Emotionally – being belittled or degraded or being made to feel inadequate by others
- Sexually – doing sexual things that you don’t want to do
- Bullying – in person or electronically on the internet or by texting
- Not cause harm or offence to others by your behaviour
- Not use social networking, mobile phones or other electronic equipment to cause harm to others – this is bullying
- Act as you would expect to be treated – with respect and dignity
- Enjoy your relationships on equal terms and on a basis you are comfortable with
- If you are harmed or abused by others – report it to a member of staff
The TEC Partnership staff can provide access to support and help you deal with many issues affecting your safety and well being
So, if there is a time when you have concerns, are unhappy or you are worried about the welfare of another learner there is always someone you can talk to:
- You may want to speak to your tutor or support worker
- If you would prefer to speak to a Safeguarding Representative, all of their contact details can be seen on the safeguarding website
- If you want to speak directly to a member of the Intensive Support Team, you can contact them on their duty mobile.
- The Grimsby Institute has a safeguarding duty phone and you can call a concern to 07940 860241 or 07771 983375 (GIFHE)
- The Academy Grimsby has a safeguarding duty phone and you can call a concern to 07795 452752 (TAG)
- Scarborough TEC has a safeguarding duty phone and you can call a concern to 07795 612116 (STEC)
- East Riding College has a safeguarding duty phone and you can call a concern to 01262 455280 (ERC)
(Texts may be charged at your normal rate). If you do choose to use this service, the safeguarding team will receive your text and they will text you back and arrange to meet up with you.
Please remember, whoever you speak to may in turn refer you to the Intensive Support Team for further guidance. If there is a serious issue which may result in serious harm being caused to someone, then they may have to consult appropriate outside agencies and act accordingly.
Learners should be assured that all disclosures and/or reports of concerns or suspicions will be taken seriously and dealt with sensitively and respectfully in accordance with the relevant local guidelines.
The NCA's CEOP Command
We are here to help if you are a young person and you or your friend (up to age 18) has been forced or tricked into taking part in sexual activity with anyone online, or in the real world.
We also have advice and links to support for other online problems young people might face, such as cyberbullying and hacking.
