Self Harm Awareness and Prevention – Level 2

The free Level 2 Self-Harm Awareness and Prevention distance learning course helps learners recognise the signs of self-harm and suicidal thoughts, understand prevention approaches, and explore ways to support individuals affected by suicide or grief. It aims to build awareness, confidence, and sensitivity around this important subject, supporting both personal development and future career opportunities.

Course Details

The free distance learning Level 2 Self Harm Awareness and Prevention course will provide learners with an understanding of the signs that an individual may be self-harming or having suicidal thoughts.

Some of the units you will study on this course are:

  • Recognising signs of suicide and self-harm in individuals
  • Suicide and self-harm prevention
  • Support for individuals dealing with grief after suicide

To complete the enrolment process, we are required to see proof of ID, such as a passport or driving license. We will also need to see either proof of earnings, such as a recent payslip (from within the last 3 months), or proof of benefits, such as a recent, full Universal Credit statement. This is so that we can check your eligibility for full funding.

These documents must be uploaded when completing your enrolment form.

On the free distance learning Level 2 Self Harm Awareness and Prevention you will learn the following units:

  • Unit 01: Introduction to suicide and self-harm awareness
  • Unit 02: Recognising signs of suicide and self-harm in individuals
  • Unit 03: Principles of suicide and self-harm prevention
  • Unit 04: Support for individuals when dealing with grief after suicide

Due to the nature and course delivery of distance learning we require all applicants to hold a minimum of English Literacy Level 1 or equivalent.

If you are between 19-23 years of age you must also have already achieved a full level 2 qualification (or higher) or 5 GCSE Grades A*-C/Grade 9-4.

We will require evidence of this in order to receive funding for you.

Each candidate is required to give written responses to questions, which will be submitted to a qualified script marker to assess. These responses can either be handwritten in the assessment booklets or typed using our fully online EQUAL platform. Candidates are issued with workbooks or online materials to assist with assessments.

You will be required to submit 4 assessments each taking 3 weeks to complete.

Upon completion, you will receive an electronic and/or paper certificate, which will be sent to you via email/post.
