Understanding Principles of Dementia Care – Level 2

The free distance learning Level 2 Understanding Principles of Dementia Care course will provide learners with an understanding of the principles of caring for those with dementia.

Course Details

Covering areas such as person-centred care, influence of positive communication methods, medication and appropriate activities.

Some of the units you will study on this course are:

  • Dementia awareness
  • Factors that influence communication and interaction
  • Understanding behaviour

To complete the enrolment process, we are required to see proof of ID, such as a passport or driving license. We will also need to see either proof of earnings, such as a recent payslip (from within the last 3 months), or proof of benefits, such as a recent, full Universal Credit statement. This is so that we can check your eligibility for full funding.

These documents must be uploaded when completing your enrolment form.

On the free distance learning Level 2 Understanding Principles of Dementia Care  course, you will learn the following units:

  • Unit 01: Dementia awareness
  • Unit 02: The person-centred approach to the care and support of individuals with dementia
  • Unit 03: Understand the factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals who have dementia
  • Unit 04: Understand equality, diversity and inclusion in dementia care
  • Unit 05: Understand the administration of medication to individuals with dementia using a person-centred approach
  • Unit 06: Understand behaviour in the context of dementia
  • Unit 07: Understand the benefits of engaging in activities in social care

Due to the nature and course delivery of distance learning we require all applicants to hold a minimum of English Literacy Level 1 or equivalent.

If you are between 19-23 years of age you must also have already achieved a full level 2 qualification (or higher) or 5 GCSE Grades A*-C/Grade 9-4.

We will require evidence of this in order to receive funding for you.

Each candidate is required to give written responses to questions, which will be submitted to a qualified script marker to assess. These responses can either be handwritten in the assessment booklets or typed using our fully online EAssessor platform. Candidates are issued with workbooks or online materials to assist with assessments.

You will be required to submit 2  assessments each taking 12 weeks and 9 weeks to complete.

Upon completion, you will receive an electronic and/or paper certificate, which will be sent to you via email/post.
